Lock In Your Transitions
A Three-Part series of Combinations and Concepts to Polish Your Skills
We're so excited to welcome Lenka to our team of FCBD®U instructors, and this three-part series marks her very first course on FCBDU.com.
You already know that the magic of FCBD® Style lives in the connection between dancers. But have you ever thought about what happens in the space between the steps? That's exactly where this series lives. "Lock In" Your Transitions is a focus on that quiet, powerful moment Carolena describes as settling, the place where clarity is born. Lenka shares her concept of "locking" in place between steps so your transitions read clearly to your fellow dancers, every single time.
Across three progressive classes, Lenka guides you through combinations and drills designed to build your confidence and sharpen your communication on the dance floor:
Part One introduces the foundations, with three levels of combinations and drills that unpack the locking concept from the ground up. It's the perfect entry point for understanding how settling transforms your dancing.
Part Two moves into some of Lenka's favorite slow combinations, working transitions through steps like the Reverse Figure 8 (Taxeem), Medusa, Sahra Turn, and Rainbow. Be sure you're familiar with these steps before diving into the transitions.
Part Three picks up the pace with fast combinations, exploring transitions through the Rhythmic Undulation, Double Bump, Choo Choo Arc Arm, Triangle, and Double Back. As with Part Two, take a moment to get comfortable with these steps first.
So why does locking in matter? When your transitions are clear, everything changes. Your technique on each individual step improves, your formation takes on a cohesive, polished look, and your followers can relax into the dance, paying attention to the audience and enjoying the moment instead of scrambling to keep up. Your own confidence grows right along with it. And here's the beautiful part: transitions are where your individuality and musicality get to shine. Locking in doesn't box you in, it gives you the steady ground from which to truly express yourself.

Your Instructor
Lenka is a passionate and dedicated teacher and dancer based in the Czech Republic. She earned her Certified Studio status in 2013 and since then she became the major force behind the popularity of FCBD®Style in the country building a strong base of dancers as well as teachers. She´s very attentive to the Czech and Slovak community having created various online learning tools, streaming numerous free workshops and organizing student-centered events.
Lenka is the leader and artistic director of Hurriya Dance Company - a troupe of 17 dancers who will celebrate their 10th year anniversary of dancing together. Hurriya prides on creating energetic and unforgettable performances sharing the heart of the dance form with the audience. Apart from Hurriya, Lenka has had the honour to share the stage with other well-known FCBD®Style dancers around Europe or the USA.
As a teacher, Lenka is very attentive to detail. She´s able to break things down easily and provide logical and clear explanations. She is the best match for students who like to have a well-structured class focusing on excellent technique as well as performance skills. She always comes back to the basics and the roots of the style. “I do love to use some dialects with my troupe, especially with skirts or swords, but my heart lies in the original FatChance®Style. The longer I dance it, the more freedom and enjoyment I find in the simplicity. Always come back to the basics.”
Besides FatChance®Style, Lenka is also a proud student of the Salimpour School of Belly Dance, currently working on her level 400. Studying under the mentorship of Suhaila Salimpour has helped her shape her technical, performance and artistic skills beyond what she could have imagined. Knowledge of the Jamila Salimpour vocabulary and performing with Bal Anat informs her FCBD®Style instruction and brings in more texture.
Her two main areas of interest in dance are currently body awareness and dance psychology.Through online programs and individual coaching, she works with dancers on mastering their dance posture in the former and helps them with their goal-setting, motivation or self-esteem in the latter.
